How does ShiftMD build the schedule?
It uses an on-device solver that only assigns physicians who break none of your rules, then balances hours and weekends across the team. If demand can't be met it flags the uncovered days rather than breaking a rule.
Will it ever violate my rules?
No. Hard limits — weekly hours, maximum weekends per month, consecutive-day limits and required daily coverage — are never exceeded. Days that can't be staffed within the rules are shown as coverage gaps so you can adjust.
How do vacation and time off work?
Add time off by hand for any physician, or paste a Google Calendar "Secret address in iCal format" link to import all-day events automatically. The scheduler never assigns anyone on their days off.
Can two physicians swap a shift?
Yes. Tap a physician on any day to reassign or cover their shift; two reassignments make a mutual swap. Hours, weekend counts and coverage flags all update automatically.
How do I share the schedule with my team?
Tap "Share / Email PDF" on the schedule. ShiftMD creates a clean one-page PDF and can email it to the physicians on file or open the iOS share sheet (Mail, Messages, AirDrop, Files).
Does my data sync to the cloud?
No. Everything is stored only on your device — there are no accounts and no servers. The only network request ShiftMD makes is fetching a calendar link that you choose to add.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy, simply explained

Last updated: June 25, 2026. This policy applies to the ShiftMD iOS application published by Mark Utility Labs.

Short version: ShiftMD stores everything on your device. It has no accounts, no analytics, and no ads, and it never sends your scheduling data to us or anyone else.

1. What data the app handles

ShiftMD stores the information you enter: your physician roster (names, optional email addresses, and FTE), your scheduling rules, the schedules it generates, and time-off entries. This data exists only to build and display your schedules.

2. How it's stored

All data is kept locally on your device using the operating system's standard app storage. Deleting an item in the app removes it, and deleting the app removes everything. We keep no copy or backup.

4. Network use & Google Calendar

ShiftMD works offline. The only time it makes a network request is when you add a physician's calendar link: it fetches that iCal URL directly from the calendar provider (for example, Google) to read their time-off events. The request is a standard read; no personal information about you is sent, and the calendar contents are stored only on your device. Adding a calendar link is entirely optional and under your control.

5. Sharing a schedule

When you export or email a schedule, ShiftMD creates a PDF on your device and hands it to the iOS Mail composer or share sheet. You choose the recipients; ShiftMD does not send anything on its own.

6. Permissions

ShiftMD requests no special permissions — no camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, or notifications.

7. Children's privacy

ShiftMD is a professional scheduling tool, is not directed at children under 13, and collects no personal information from anyone.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
